From LE CIEL Bar & Restaurant in the historic harbor, you can start the perfect day in Saint-Tropez, explore shopping opportunities, tourist highlights or famous sights: The Musée de l'Annonciade with 19th and 20th century artworks, the Citadel of Saint-Tropez with its hexagonal central building with corner tower or the nearby 16th century baroque church Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de la Asunción. Be sure to take a look: Inside the church is a bust of Saint Torpes. Saint-Tropez (or "St. Tropez") was named after this patron saint of seafarers.
To begin, interrupt or conclude a tour of the old town, LE CIEL is the right address. And we are always happy to give you a personal Saint-Tropez tip. In the mood for nature? Besides glamour, beach and history, the city has much more to offer. Why not explore the most beautiful beaches and vantage points, which lie like a string of pearls on the Mediterranean Sea, via the famous coastal hiking trail Chemin littoral: The rocky Plage des Graniers, the water-sporty Plage des Canoubiers, the lively Plage de la Moutte or further via the Plage des Salins to the Plage de Pampelonne with its world-famous beach clubs. And for a short walk, it is only about 600 meters from LE CIEL over the Môle d'Estienne d'Orves to the city's lighthouse, which is surrounded by seagulls.
Paul Signac, star of pointillism, discovered the creative energy, the light, the vitality of Saint-Tropez - and brought painters like Matisse, Bonnard or Marquet here. Consequently, art, the beautiful and the mundane have always felt at home on the Cote d'Azur. Once again a claim for us to unite with LE CIEL four dimensions that make gastronomy an experience: The right people, the right ideas, the right style, in the right place.
When asked about the best time to travel to Saint-Tropez, all you have to do is take a quick look at the varied regional events to quickly feel: it's always season in Saint-Tropez. Every year, the Côte d'Azur hosts about 400 national as well as international mostly cultural events. Like pearls on a necklace, the various festivities, events, international top events and cultural highlights lead through the year.
In spring, the region is under the impression of the Cannes Film Festival, when in May the who's who of international cinema stars come to the Mediterranean coast and not infrequently explore the places from Saint-Tropez to Nice. Summer in Saint-Tropez offers more than beach, good weather and Mediterranean feeling: among other things, a variety of interesting events, such as the Grand Prix Photo of Saint-Tropez. In this photography competition, artists from 23 countries submit more than 10,000 photographs.
Autumn is all about gastronomy: throughout the country, La Fête de la Gastronomie, the Festival of Gastronomy, is celebrated. It illustrates the culinary diversity of France and is a must for all food critics and gourmets. In particular, friends of good cuisine are drawn to the Côte d'Azur, whose chefs once again impressively demonstrate that they offer more than ratatouille, bouillabaisse and fougasse. At the same time, autumn is perfect for water sports: in September and October, the world's sailing elite travel to Saint-Tropez. The competition Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez with around 300 sailing yachts marks the end of the season for the regatta scene in the Mediterranean.
We are happy to welcome you all year round at LE CIEL and to enrich the cultural life of the region with our events. Whether Christmas, New Year's Eve or the famous Nice Carnival: even in winter, the French Mediterranean coast around Saint-Tropez is an ideal destination for those who appreciate mild temperatures. During the day, the thermometer often rises to pleasant values around 15 to 20 degrees, even in December, January or February. See impressions of the past events.
Whether gentle beaches, mighty cliffs or rugged cliffs: on the coasts, nature likes to outdo itself in its beauty. For many tourists, the Côte d'Azur is synonymous with secluded arts resorts and the sparkling blue sea. All these natural beauties and tourist magnets are united in the Côte d'Azur. The name, by the way, is a creation of the poet Stéphen Liégard, who published a book with this title in 1887. On a length of about 120 kilometers, this picturesque section of the Mediterranean coast unites more than 150 beaches. In the hinterland, there are a total of 15 ski resorts. Of the approximately 5,000 restaurants located on the Côte d'Azur, about 30 have been awarded Michelin stars. LE CIEL is therefore in good company and in a gastronomic environment that constantly inspires our restaurant team to new creativity. Get to know LE CIEL and learn more about our concept.
